awesome! band is great - I was a (quite accomplished) Trumpet player in my teens and was a first chair member of the BC Honor band.
I was also in a Bagpipe band for 6 years as a snare drummer (I was in Army Cadets).

I don't always do stretch trot with RP at the end of the ride. I used to, but then he reached a point where anytime i did stretch he thought we were done. I stretchy trot a figure-8 4 times around and then walk on a loose rein large around the arena until our breathing rate is back to normal.

My trainer does not include canterining in the warmup. When asked why not, I was told because the trot is the suppling gait. I tell him that my understanding is that the canter loosens the back and the trot is always better after a canter. Of course, he doesn't want to believe that, so conversation...

Instead of cold hosing, dunk a baby diaper fully in cold water, (or multiple diapers) and put them in the freezer until they're good and frozen. then hold them against her swollen bits. it wastes less water, isn't as messy, won't attract bees, and wont soak her hooves.
