I enjoyed watching the freestyles (and so did Ryan Gosling!! He and his wife and kids were there). I liked the winner’s ride - harmonious and without the tension of some of the other high scorers. I also like the new format for both dressage and jumping where round 1 is qualifying only and scores don’t carry over to the final. Makes it a bit more exciting and competitive in the second round.

After a cloudy morning 20 minutes before the total solar eclipse the clouds parted and we had perfect clear skies for the whole eclipse. It was incredible - totality was a truly moving experience.

I forgot I have a folding cart I keep in the back to bring bags of grain from the trailer to the barn every few weeks.

Me and my horse are both home from the show. We had our best ride today for a 64% and fifth in the class and we ended up 6th overall for the state championships! I liked today's ride better but one of the two judges really did not so I ended up with a 62% and finished 11th out of 12 for the USDF regional class. Successful first show day for me we got a 63% at 3-2 and finished 7 out of 11 which means we get a ribbon since they do ribbons to 8th. I’ll take it! I prefer to mix-up the warm-up routine from a set of typical exercises we would do. I don't like my horse to be anticipating. But I can agree that for a nervous horse or who is fried that consistency and predictability of the warm-up could be really valuable.
