Re: Walking away from mounting block with one leg not in stirrup
My mare is a saint about standing when I'm mounting or dismounting which is GOOD as I'm now 74 and can't just swing up quickly. The motivation to her heart is a treat. Once I'm up she waits for her treat, one on each side. The same dismounting. No matter how long it takes me she just stands there ti...

For our pony, i just put it in with his tiny bit of grain. It's a deep feed tub so little chance of him tossing it out. I think the first few times I put it in a slice of apple just to make sure he would eat it.

Years ago I had a pair custom made and they weren't all that expensive. Maybe someone who does upholstery work could fabricate you a pair. Their sewing machine is probably heavy enough to go through leather. Farriers often have their chaps locally made. Ask yours if he has any leads.

For me, as a former boarding barn owner, I liked the shot of the hay truck and elevators. It showed a large capacity in the hay loft and also the fact that you can actually get a large truck to the barn. Those are important necessities when housing multiple horses.

I've had 2 shoulders and 2 knees done. The knee replacements were a walk in the park compared to the shoulders. Was back on the horse in 6 weeks with the knees so if you have your hip replaced, barring any complications you should be OK.

Boots, I would suspect that the amount of shavings mixed in with the manure would be a factor. Few shavings would equal slipperyness. Also the drainage under the shavings track would be important.

My only regret with our place is that in hind sight, I wish we would have built a small simple indoor with just a few stalls across one end instead of the beautiful, custom barn that we did.
