Re: Would you compare yourself to a dressage master?
I am a dressage master, to whom all compare themselves. Therefore, I don't need to compare myself to any others.      :P  Thing is, most people who have any sense know that the greats don't toot their own horns, and usually you need some sense of humility to g...

I was a barn rat. I started at age 11 when I went to summer camp at a dressage barn and then got hooked. I continued taking lessons after the camp and then slowly started staying at the barn to do work, then my weekends were at the barn, then every day after school, then all summer.  I di...

Lessons would be important to me, so for me, that would be a deal breaker. I would move if it were me. FYI, I am of the "no barn is perfect" camp and I have learned to deal with/tolerate a lot of imperfections. But one of the things I love most is taking lessons and learning and improving,...

Ugh, that feeling of "drop and go" is very disconcerting. Years ago when I was having some issues with my horse, that's what he would do. Pop his shoulder out, drop his back and bolt. Nothing to sit on and no control and I couldn't stop it. I've also been riding as long as you have, so was...

Thanks peeps! Looking at the USEF website, it's my understanding that there is a "1 NSAID rule" where you can't have a horse on 2 NSAIDS at the same time. However, with veterinarian permission for things like arthritis, you actually can have a horse on equioxx or bute? I am pretty sure I r...

Hello! A friend of mine wants to take my horse to a schooling show. He (my horse) has an old injury and sometimes needs some previcox to keep him comfy. How stringent do the schooling show officials get about previcox usage? And recognized shows if we're not going for points? Thanks in advance. :)

If he's causing himself that much angst and losing weight from pacing, then I would keep him in more, and slowly transition him to longer turnouts. It may just be too much for him, especially where he is not used to being out so much.
