I don't enjoy watching it either, I can't relate to it or hope to aspire to it. Maybe I was naive in my younger days, or had a less developed eye, but I could watch the top horses and riders and find some (distant) similarities - or at least goals to aspire too. I don't feel like that's the case any...

A quick glance seems to indicate that many lack confidence under saddle, and are pushy on the ground. They are neat crosses though, I hope they find good placements.

With the new post I have reread part of the thread. I wonder why there is so much focus about the bucking strap, when there is a TON of equipment various disciplines use on their horses that can could arguably cause pain or discomfort, and are generally worn for much longer periods of time.

I think in most cases they are genuinely trying to keep the animals best interests at heart and probably following the oath they take. It seems like a relatively easy problem to circumvent though - if you need to have you animal euthed then remain present and don't just leave it in the hands of the ...

It might be the intent but certainly isn't the case in many situations. The horses are penned together behind the chutes, with more room to roam than many riding horses. Yes, they 'explode' out of the gate for 8 seconds, then gallop/canter around until they exit. That is no different than turning a ...

Most will only buck once in a weekend, they do this to keep them fresh. The top ones will often be reserved for the finals. So, 15 trips = 12-15 rodeos. It sounds like you're upset because your aunt and uncle, who own the house you live in, visit periodically. Do you pay rent? If so I don't think they can evict you without notice (3 months?). Agree with the above posters. Many barns function well without crossties, and a place to tie isn't even needed (does she straight tie better?). Be fully dressed to ride, have her tack ready at hand. Bring her in and groom while holding her/ground tying and tack up the same way. Once the bad behaviou...

I would have a mental block with it too, I also don't see the benefit if he has good turnout. The fact is that if you're riding at some point you may have to turn sharply, or end up faster than a walk.

Well I don't exactly pull the cart across the aisle sideways...it seems to me like my method is less disruptive and faster when I'm grocery shopping with kids, but I guess others disagree. If a cart (shopping or stocking) is in my way I just move it as needed, and am thankful for wheels.

I might try a different approach - not testing her cross tie limits or bringing out the bad behaviours. If she remains in view of her truck I wouldn't worry about it at all. If she leaves it and it becomes inconvenient (ie having to track her down) then it's a problem. Have you looked at the parking up close? It might not be blocking it as much as it seems to be from a distance.

Is the horse staying at the current facility? I'm not sure that a formal lease needs to be drawn up, often partial leases just involve handing over some $$ and riding the horse a few times a week. It's different if it is a lease to own or if the horse is being relocated.

Plenty of horses 'need you', but they don't show affection the way dogs do. Also, since they can be a bit standoffish, it usually takes a long time to form a very strong bond with them. I find something magical happens at year 3, where you become BFFs.
