Re: Changing my feeding program and looking for input..
As far as "missing anything," I think your youngster and your oldies would likely benefit from more protein and amino acids, first of all. Secondly, without testing your hay, you have no idea if you're really meeting their nutritional requirements with any sort of vitamin/mineral supplemen...

Ugh....horse nettle in hay
Seeking opinions on horse nettle (with berries) in some of my hay. Although a pain, would I be okay to pull it out as I feed it, and hope any missed will be ignored and/or not enough to be a problem, or do I suck up the loss and toss all of the hay? Unfortunately it snuck up on me in our own field.....

Re: May only the leaves fall this Fall. September October training Bimester
A bit of a brag for Anna Banana. We've still been hammering away all summer with those canter/walk/canter transitions. The string of pearls chain of 10m circles have REALLY been getting quite smooth. After one or two protests about having to walk, we can pretty consistently make it from A to C in on...

Wow Kelo, congrats!! Gosh that's a huge accomplishment! And love the encouraging comments from the judge. Moutaineer/exvet, I too am thoroughly enjoying this "training summer" without the shows getting in the way. So, on the last day of this month I thought I'd look back at the beginning o...

NIRS versus wet chemistry for hay analysis?
We're baling tonight so in a few weeks I'll be getting ready to send in a new round of hay samples for analysis. Does anybody have strong opinions about near infrared reflectance spectroscopy versus wet chemistry for testing method? I keep hearing NIRS has come a long way in accuracy. I don't have a...

In keeping with the theme of "keep calm and canter on" - Enzo is reminding me on a daily basis that forward really does fix everything. Some days I get on and he feels like a grown up horse. I can put some inside leg on and I feel him step into my outside rein, and all is lovely and stretc...

A regulation ring would help, but I think everybody who has done schooling shows has ridden a test in a 60' wide indoor that was "close enough" and I think something like this could probably be run with the same flexibility?

Hi! We've got Haflingers (who are a bit prone to SCC), and have been dealing with this in my mare. Back in 2015 I noticed a small blob in the corner of her eye. We use the TSC mats as well. Fairly inexpensive and easily obtainable when we decide we need just a few more over there! Another thought on the toaster is that it's less wattage (and therefore less expensive to run) than a toaster oven. IF the family has an oven, they can already do the things a toaster oven can do. My vote might be to stick with the regular toaster. OR get a combo? Something like this? http://www.ama...

Mountain Horse was my first thought. They don't offer a true wide foot, but the footbed is wider than average, and it has a round toe. The Dublin Aeros is similar, and also available in brown. How wide do you need - a true D width, or just not as skinny as some boots run?

How scaled down is your French link? When I was driving my mini, I found that many bit makers would offer bits down to 4", but the mouthpiece at the same 12mm or 14mm diameter was just WAY too much for him. I ended up getting this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Liverpool-Bit-Lozenge-Carriage-Driv...
