So, I went to my lesson barn Saturday and asked everyone there how the Halloween show had gone. One gal, who owns a hugely tall, gangly TB, told me he'd been sick before the show, so she took my pony instead. (Not "my" pony. The schoolie that I usually ride in lessons. Who is about 17, and 14.1 hands.) And they placed in some money classes!!!
So, firstly, I was very chuffed that the old gal I ride had some 3 foot courses in her (I'm the only one jumping her right now and she was very out of practice when I started about a year ago).
But mostly I felt this young rider should have been very proud of herself to be able to switch from a very gangly TB who needs to be held together all the time to a short, stocky little thing who RESENTS being held together and still did very well in her classes. She was busy saying how riding a different horse really pointed out all her faults, but I told her it also pointed out all her strengths. She thought about that for awhile.
