XC schooling pics

Did a XC lesson with Autumn this afternoon. The work we've been doing on the flat and over stadium jumps has certainly paid off. We still have some argument about how much speed we should have *after* the jumps, but our approach is much better and we can get organized quickly enough to do a series of jumps without circling.

Overachieving. Ignore the complete lack of fold in my hip joint. We are working on that.

I just adore this mare. Our progress has been slow, but steady, and she is teaching me a huge amount about riding well.

Ha! No, these are maiden. She's just jumping them like they are BN. This is our home field, and there is lots of nice small stuff, including tiny ditches and banks, with almost nothing bigger than BN. It's great for greenie horses and riders. Luckily, there are plenty of facilities not too far away with bigger stuff once we get more comfortable.

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words. Yes, racktrack, this is one of Tamara in TN's homebreds. She is quite a character and immensely talented to boot. I was hoping to do our first horse trial this fall, but life conspired against us. So, postponing that goal until the spring.

Autumn looks fantastic. Congratulations on your progress. Autumn is out of a lovely (now deceased) thoroughbred mare who carried a colleague through many a hunter class. Her sire is Menai Dambuster, the sire of my (soon to be solely my daughter's) Welsh Cob stallion. I adore Dambuster offspring. Each and every one have been easy peasy to start/back.
