Re: Moutaineer's horse shopping thread.
Thanks! I've had some sleepless nights, what with one thing and another, but I had a long conversation with my farrier today, too, so I'm feeling good about it all if he isn't blind with a heart murmur...
Life would be a lot easier if my nice cosy barn situation didn't feel.like it was about to disintegrate, but as my friend pointed out to me this evening, I have choices.

Re: Moutaineer's horse shopping thread.
He did very well!
Vet hoof tested the heck out of him with no response, too. He flexed slightly on his right hind, but I'm not too worried about that when you consider the amount of work he has on him. The vet wasn't too concerned.
So, now I need to talk to a shipper and get him on his way up here.

Re: Moutaineer's horse shopping thread.
Tomorrow's the big day, unless the freeway is still closed...
I haven't had a lot of time to get too excited about the whole thing as Laddie had a rough weekend.
Vet came out Saturday to look at him. He feels that the abscess is kind of incidental. He isolated and blocked the coffin joint and Laddie pretty much sighed with relief and went instantly 100% sound. So, we've injected it again, which was not a road we wanted to start down as it is expensive and finite.
Sunday afternoon, he colicked. Banamine, black magic, prayers and much handwalking, and he pulled out of it, but he had me quite worried for a while. He is fine today and not sure what all the fuss was about. I can tell you he is sound at a trot on the lunge though.

Jingles for Laddie. That's so rough and I understand that your mind is on him and getting through this rough patch! Jingles that he continues to do well after all that. And hope your new boy (name?) gets to you safely soon!
Re: Moutaineer's horse shopping thread.
I’m so sorry Mountaineer. Hugs to you and jingles that Laddie stays sound and healthy.
Not too much going on except I did decide to buy the Dynamic saddle. Joplin especially likes it and I think it will help me with my position. Especially my lower leg that wants to creep back. So new saddle and getting ready for a Cedar clinic end of the month. And working on our hay fields for getting them ready for this season.

Re: Moutaineer's horse shopping thread.
He's here! It took him about 30 seconds to worm his way into everyone's affections.
He travelled well, strolled into the barn as if he owned the place, took a long drink, pooped, peed and buried his face in a pile of hay.
His name is Pavarotti--Potters to his friends.

Congrats!
But I will think of him as Potsie! (Watched way too much "Happy Days" in my youth)

Well, I like Pavarotti! The way he entered his new barn “like he owned it” he sounds like a class act.

Re: Moutaineer's horse shopping thread.
He was such a good boy today. Came into the empty barn onto the cross ties, boinked about a little bit, eyeballing for the others, then shrugged his shoulders and stood like a rock for a good groom, went out to the indoor and had a long handwalk, looked at everything, including the cat and himself in the mirrors, , but kept all 4 feet where they were meant to be, then stood patiently while I fiddled about with tack.
He's learned quickly that i am the carrot dispenser
Trainer coming up tomorrow, so I'm getting on!
And, Laddie was sound today, too
