Quick question on 2nd level tests
I'm looking at 2nd level test 2, and notice that it is silent on what to ride on the short side between lateral movements. I've heard before that this is not a judged movement, so try to show off gaits or readjust. Is it assumed that when riding out of a lateral movement you stay in the collected gait? For example - E-K, travers left, and then there are no directives until F-B, shoulder in left, so what is expected in between (whether written or not?).
Keep calm and canter on.

The collected gait whether it is trot or canter
Re: Quick question on 2nd level tests
You should maintain the collected trot on the short side!
And in general if there is something problematic that 'white space' between movements it can be marked on the movement before. So, let's say the horse loses his marbles on the short side, it will be factored into E-K travers left for the most part.

Same gait. As a judge and in general most judges know the null spaces and in general will not judge anything there unless you make it a real problem. I've seen judges mark issues on the movement before, after, and ignore it. In general, definitely use that space to do what you need to make your horse better for the next movement.
