A couple of months ago I stumbled upon this item on ebay. It is now mine!

The man in the black suit is my maternal grandfather. How cool is that?

Re: Ebay Find
I'm impressed! How did you find it and how did you know it was your grandfather?
Re: Ebay Find
I've been doing a little genealogy research. I knew that my mother and her parents had lived in Cuba and left when Castro came into power. I had pulled the claim that my grandparents submitted against the Cuban government for their losses so I had an address for the family home. DD and I went down there in June and one afternoon we hired a taxi and went looking for the house. We never found it but had a blast for 2 hours touring around Havana in a 1957 Ford Fairlane and seeing where the real people of Cuba live. Definitely not on the tourist agenda. When I got back, I did some more googling and found a telephone book of 1954 Havana that somebody had scanned and uploaded to the internet. Looking up my grandfather in that confirmed that the address I had was a misprint and we were off by one street. We may have driven past the house and never known it. Oh well, I'll have to go back again. Anyway, during all that googling, I stumbled upon this photograph. And I know it is my grandfather. I have many pictures of him and that's him.

Re: Ebay Find
What a find! That is SO COOL. I collect old metal frames, I like to hang them empty on my studio walls. I love the ones with interesting designs in the metal, and the little extra pieces in the corner. You can often find them at thrift stores for a dollar or two. Every once in awhile, they still have photos in them, and I came across one that must've been from the 30s or 40's. Haven't had the heart to take the photo out of the frame, always wondered who it was.
Re: Ebay Find
Amado, my photo find would look so cool in one of your frames. Here's another photo from that era. My grandmother is on the left. Her best friend, Ruby, is on the right. That is not Castro in the #2 position. I think it is Antonio Nunez Jimenez. And yes, #3 is who you think it is. And that's all I know about the circumstances of this photo.
