Please major jingles for my trainer
Please major jingles for my trainer
My trainer was in a bad accident today while working with a young horse at a clinic. He has a fractured neck and other possible injuries. Had to be life flighted to Boston. I am so scared for Mark, he is such special man and I have been privileged to learn from him.

Big, loud jingles and sending prayers for healing & comfort for Mark, also peace for his family and loved ones. Hope you let us know how he does and especially when our prayers and jingles kick in for him!
The calmer I am, the stronger I am.

Re: Please major jingles for my trainer
Very sad. I hope for the best for him.
Can't help but say that I hate that he is never wearing a helmet in the photos on his site/pages/book. Some of the smartest horse people still do refuse to wear helmets, I know, but it is remarkably stupid IMO. But maybe he wears one when getting on a strange horse.

What is Mark's last name? I would like to follow this.
Re: Please major jingles for my trainer
Sending good vibes.
Re: Please major jingles for my trainer
Wicky https://www.facebook.com/markandhela/?fref=nf Mark rode with Nuno Olivera in Portugal and brought those teachings here and has shared so much of his knowledge to many all over the US.
Unfortunately not good news, Mark's injuries are so severe that they do not appear to be survivable. I am beyond devasted and have lost an incredible mentor and a really good friend.
A helmet would not have helped in this instance according to Hela his wife who always wished he would wear one.

Re: Please major jingles for my trainer
Wicky posting from my iPad or I would supply the link. Search Mark Russell Natural Dressage he has a web site.
I am having a hard time coming to accept this news. I had so much I still wanted to learn from Mark. I don't want to have to say goodbye to him.

Oh no!!! I'm so, so, sorry for all involved. Geezus.....
Re: Please major jingles for my trainer
I heard about this yesterday on FB as well and am in shock. So heartbroken for all that knew him, and it sounds like all that knew him loved him. A friend really enjoyed his clinics and I had hoped to go see for myself one day..,have heard wonderful things that also reflected such kindness. All in his life have been in my prayers. I am so very sorry.

The story I heard was that he got on a young horse at a clinic and the horse exploded.

It seems he was an organ donor, so he will live on, continuing to help people. Rest in peace all.

So sorry for your loss. Prayers for his family and friends.
Re: Please major jingles for my trainer
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers and it is good to see that others here knew of Mark and appreciated his teachings. Both he and his wife are deeply in my thoughts and prayers. The full details of the accident have not been made public yet so I am reluctant to air them here. Needless to say it was a tragic accident and a hard reminder that dealing with horses can and is dangerous.
I lost a great friend and my riding mentor. Mark had more knowledge than any other horseman or trainer I knew or was ever exposed to. His background was varied but the underlying theme of his work was proper gymnastics and development of each horse. I am lucky to have had the time I did with Mark but so very sad that with his death, all of his deep knowledge has passed with him. All of his students have pieces of him that we are able to carry with us, but dang it I still had so much to learn from him! I am stunned and at a loss as is all of my regular riders that came to attend Mark's clinics here on my farm. It would have been 10 yrs this November when I first met Mark at a clinic site not far from my farm and 9 yrs this spring that I have hosted him at least 3 times a year. I also traveled to other states so that I could ride with Mark as much as I could catch up with him.
I am struggling with this new reality that does not include Mark. Many tears are being shed by me and by so many that loved and respected him as a human being and as a wonderful horseman.

khall I am so sorry. A tremendous loss to you, his other students, and family, and to the horse world in general.
Re: Please major jingles for my trainer
So sorry Khall, such a sad thing to have happen as well as a major loss.
Re: Please major jingles for my trainer
Dear Khall - so very sorry to hear of Mark's death. A huge loss for so many people, and I hope you are doing OK. My partner and I met Mark once (2006, at a Rhode Island clinic), and he seemed to be a lovely, calm, helpful, knowledgeable, generous person. We still have our 'Natural Dressage' caps which he gave us!! I very much hope that some of you can keep his teachings going, though I'm sure you feel you had much more to learn. Hugs from us, A & M.
Re: Please major jingles for my trainer
I am so sorry for the loss of your dear friend and trainer. My deepest condolences to his family.
Re: Please major jingles for my trainer
Khall, I am so sorry. I have been thinking and praying for Mark and all those whose lives he touched, including for the owner of the horse he was riding and the horse. Just so heartbreaking all the way around. Peace to all of you.
Re: Please major jingles for my trainer
Khall, I am just discovering Mark Russell, thanks to you. I have a horse who needs Mark, so I shall simply have to absorb his writings and apply them. Gosh, what a great horseperson. Thank you.
Re: Please major jingles for my trainer
It is coming up on the 5 year anniversary of Mark’s death. Hard to believe that it has been that long.
Calvin many of us were so blessed to have learned from Mark. He was such a special human being.
