Junior the Donkey...photos for his new fans
Hey all,
Home sick with a cruddy cold for day#2, and I don't do "rest" well, so figured I could be productive and touch base with the DD'ers while still technically "taking it easy". A good excuse to fulfill the Junior requests.
FYI, if anyone really is thinking of adding a donk, Virginia Donkey Rescue was awesome to work with, and even though we are 3.5 hours away from them in NC, we fell within their range. The founder recently had a great opportunity to expand her role with Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue (they had a satellite designation separate from VDR), which also allowed PVDR to expand how they can help donkeys with different needs...adoption, sanctuary, etc...so I THINK that if you were looking for adoptable donkeys you would look at PVDR-East, which may actually expand their range of to where they will adopt. They are still based out of the same Virginia farm I visited. The VDR founder is now a key person for the East component of PVDR, and she is AMAZING. So knowledgeable, a great match maker, professional, etc. I had a wonderful experience, and because I plan waaaay in advance, I started emailing with her a good year before Junior came home as we built onto the barn, planned out care, etc, while waiting for the right match to come along...and she never got sick of my questions---that she let on anyway, LOL. It doesn't take that long for normal people.
Now onto honoring the real requests...more pictures!!!

I’m getting vicarious pleasure out of this thread. Thanks for sharing. I get tempted to rescue a donkey or mini horse every time I read these threads. Thankfully seeing all the pics is satisfactory to keep my from getting one!!
