Any good beginner book re: Essential Oils?

Postby Saddlebum » Sat Nov 21, 2015 7:28 pm

I bought Essential Oils for Beginners by Althea Press but am disappointed as it does not list Oregano and is out of date re: diffusers.

Any recommendations that you LOVE to help a beginner?

Are you interested in health, beauty, using essential oils on animals?

This one is older - but I like how it is arranged. I have used it.

This book looks good - but I haven't personally read it yet (it is a more recent publication)

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm looking for my own health and using on cat, dog, horse, donkey. I purchased a DoTerra diffuser last year and loved it until it quit working. Have another diffuser on order.

I would like to know what each individual oil is used for mainly as well as recipes.

I think essential oils are great for making the house smell nice and that's it.

However, if you want to read some books on it - A healthy horse the natural way by Catherine bird has a lot of the essential oil lore but I can't see oregano in the index

I really need to get rid of the book, Catherine was very passionate about her beliefs, its just that I've moved back into the science world having experimented with 'natural' and deciding that it doesn't work.

oregano is a great herb for adding flavour to foods and makes a nice note in scents and that's it for me.

I have this one and it has a ton of good info in it for people.

Would definitely welcome any suggestions on good a diffuser that doesn't have a bright light on it. I'd really like to get one. I use peppermint oil regularly to help with swollen sinuses and sinus pain. Lavender is also good one to use along with the same issues. Great at bedtime.

I had a doTerra diffuser but only lasted a few months and cost was just over $100. Here's the replacement which does have a lot of light options but one option is no light (no recommendation as I have not received it yet):

and, less than $40.

Please don't use essential oils near cats. Their livers can't break them down so the oils just stay and build up to toxic levels. I had an animal communicator recommend a few of them for my cats but after doing the research, I decided against them.

Per a client who's had Lyme disease since she was 17 or 18, oregano oil is supposed to be very helpful for it. It also pulls the crud out of insect bites.
