I want to name our new homestead--but what?
What evokes the spirit of our endeavor without being cutesy or corny?
My friend and I have been talking about living in community for many years. She and I have each had large multi person households, and now we've finally bought one for ourselves.
Its on ten acres and we have already started thinking about the food gardens and where a barn might go, etc.
One thing we're really looking forward to is our Saturday night dinners for family and friends, and just being together to share the load and laughter---we laugh loud and often!
We have great sun and moon rises, a pretty view of the wind towers on the ridge across from us, (with a lovely view of the water when the leaves are gone too) and a several hundred acre wood which is full of beautifully maintained trails.
Any ideas?

I would favor something that emphasizes that more than one family created the place.
Four Hands Farms?
Suggestion made, I have to say I don't care for conceptual names for places. I think places should have place names, instead.

I always heard that it was bad luck to change the name of a farm.
Can you guess what I have in abundance here at Chestnut Springs Farm?
No imagination necessary!

Thanks for your great suggestions--its too much fun to think of them all!
Anyway, today the four of us--me and my bff and her dh and their fab aussie doodle went for a long walk in the hundred acre wood. We found a big tree with fairy doors built onto it--three stories worth of keebler elf housing!!!
There are several more scattered about---and GET THIS!!!!! The landowner keeps the trails trimmed to 12 ft to attract horse riders!!!
Today while yapping away about how wonderful it all is I began humming zippidee do dah--and the name of our farm was born.
So as of this afternoon the working name is Zippidee Do Da Farm. It captures perfectly our general demeanor and approach to life, and which we continue to work at.
We'll see if we still like it in a week or so, but for now it makes me smile.

shoot, none of you like zippity do da farm lol?!!
proud horse carpevita is a play on my last name, so i'll be keeping that for personal stuff, but the homestead itself needs a name, as does our farming endeavor---we think zippity do da farm will be fun presence at farmers' markets next year, so for the moment that's the plan.
A new name may present itself, we're not 100% committed to it just yet, but all of us like it so that's a good start.

Mooning Duck Farm if you have water with ducks. I always love seeing ducks doing bottoms up while feeding. Kind of reminds me of the RV park where you had your camper.

I love the name, but I've heard it before. That doesn't make it a bad name for you though! It is cute and gives the impression of laughter and fun times. I think it is great.

Have fun trying on your new name! You will know when it is the right one.
I love our farm name ("Pinefall"). While it was based on a specific geographic place and weather event, it turned out to suit our next farm, too. Our logo (from back when we sold farm products) is a leaning pine tree.

I like Zippity Do Da. I also like Laughing Moon. In the end, YOU are the one who needs to be happy with it. And then we will be happy too!
