I had to have my dog put down last week
She had collapsing trachea and I've always known it would have to end up at this point. I was always a bit anti euthanasia, but now when I know that death would happen and not too nicely, I'm a glad it could be assisted.
It was very hard going through with it, I have to say.
I've changed my mind about something important.

Flight - I'm so sorry for your loss. Our elderly Pom has this medical problem too with the cough. We are watching him closely.

This is a nice article that may be useful for some thinking on this issue; even though this addresses the fears of euthanasia primarily in rescue, it applies to many situations where we have to make choices for our beloved animals.
