My BFF the younger has recently bought a house and is throwing herself a housewarming Halloween party. I should go, I should go in costume, I'm so uninspired!

We had planned on dressing up a Anna, Sven the reindeer, and the blonde guy from frozen. The pony was going to be Sven.

Now, I'm shooting a wedding in Hartford, CT on Halloween so my plans are shot.

God, no... all I want to do on Haloween is hide at home with the lights off...

We don't do Halloween. There are no street lights in our neighborhood so the littles pass us by. If I were you, I would dress up as a cop and let Manto be your K-9.

Great idea redsox but BFF has a Great Dane and two pit mixes so even though there will be a veterinarian at the party, I'd rather the only blood at the party be fake blood LOL!

Well, you could always wear one of your fab driving outfits, borrow a mini horse cart, and have your DH supply the horse power.

Not super clever, but easy and fun.
A few years ago I went as a Snow White's evil queen. (Does she have a name?)
I'm doing it again this year because it's what I have––and I was invited to a goth wedding reception on Halloween. Really.
The red faced devil is pretty simple: red stage make up and some horns. Easy peasy.

We don't 'do' Halloween but I started early. When the photo loads up I will post it here.

I don't think I'll be dressing up this year, but last year I had a great time and used three different costumes for three different parties! I was hermione from Harry Potter (easy- wore a white shirt with striped tie and put my black college graduation robe over it and carried a stick around as my wand). I was Wonder Woman (cheap WW t shirt, blue tutu, tall red socks, gold headband), and smurfette along with DH's papa smurf (cheap white dress, blue tights, blue long sleeved shirt, white heels, white stocking cap, blonde wig, and some blue face paint). Had a blast.

Yes. Dressing up is fun but of course, it is stressful. I have been stressing for a month now ....

This year, I shall be a box of toothpaste. (Mostly, a cheap-o purchased costume)

Last year I was the Cat in the Hat. (Ditto)

The year before I was a parrot. Home made and ludicrous.

The year before that, I was a jellyfish, inspired by Martha Stewart. She would have been embarrassed - but the kids got it! A clear very rounded umbrella, with seaweed type "stuff" hanging down as jellyfish stingers .... and you pulse it up and down ....

Now, I shall try to find pictures and THEN shall attempt to figure out how to post them. This could take a while. I love Hallowe'en. However, the rule here is no scary costumes - I want those little'uns to inundate me! Treats include packages of hot chocolate; those ridiculous breakfast cereal snack packs (Fruit Loops! Frosted Flakes! Count Chocula!) and chocolate pop tarts. Oh, too be young. Toying with the idea of getting aircraft-sized (mini) spirit bottles to dispense to those adults I recognize ...

Umm, silk, I do hope this is only a costume!

Halloween's been just one of my favorite things for most of my life... but these past few years... it's been hard to make the effort. I have no ideas. I have a masquerade mask that I decorated a few years ago at the last minute which is still hanging in my locker at work... that might get pulled out again. I have a plague doctor mask around here somewhere, too. I could always use that (even though that ends up turning into a night-long history lecture at parties . Same thing happened with my Hel costume from a few years ago... several people unwillingly learned a lot about mythology that night )

Errr, you're all correct, that is no costume. It is a kick to the face and many hours in A&E waiting for a surgeon to stitch me up. I thought I looked zombie-ish with all the blood.... (I'm here, and I'm laughing, which is what counts, right!).

Good lord silk, I hope you're OK? At least (If there's an at least) it doesn't look like your pretty face was damaged, just that the horse attempted to decapitate you with a dull object?

Did the horse have a really good excuse, Silk?

I posted at work that the staff are encouraged to dress up on Friday the 30th this year. Several of us decided on something of a minimalist superhero theme, which is basically that we bought superhero t-shirts to wear with black pants and boots.

Negative - no good excuse! It wasn't even behaving "that" poorly that I expected that result.

I once dressed up as an evil toaster, it was a cheap and easy costume. It was a big box and I had two slots cut out in the back and had to big pieces of foam (from when I moved) and shaped them into bread. I took some foil and covered the box with it and I took the foam bread had them so they were sticking out the back. I also had an old cord that I stuck out the back too.

Heheheh unfortunately no. I wish I did though!

Are you there going to be any kids? You could always be Captain Underpants - cheap, easy and a huge hit with the "under 10" group. The rest of the population might think you're a bit odd though ...
