Knee patch or full seat breeches that slip so that the padded part is no longer protecting the inside of the knee during regular wear/riding.
Squeaky bits! Why are some squeaky when others are not, another great mystery of life.
Is this just horse related? If not ... (I could fill a book, LOL).

DJR, I have a raw patch on my knee from just that, yesterday.
Halters dropped on the floor in the aisleway or left attached to a cross tie after tacking up... really? Right up there with grooming your horse and not sweeping up before you ride.

Oh ya, Mountaineer, your list reminds me of the barn-trolls who don't clean up the manure from the indoor arena. It seems that at the barns I've boarded at, this is all too common (and, in my opinion, pathetic).
Not stowing hoses in an orderly fashion is another one!

There isn’t enough space to list all the petty things that annoy me. Tonight the people in the garage across from me sat in their car with the reverse lights on. No indication that they were going to reverse soon so I sat in the driveway waiting, Annoying. And a certain redhead was very sassy tonight. Didn’t want to be brushed, didn’t want to be ridden. And it was a bitch getting my saddle back in its zip case.

I would just like to say that I love the DD people. If only I boarded with you! I am so into stowed hoses, swept cross ties and cleaned arenas. Call me a dressage queen and I will not flinch.

The barn crew hides brooms so it’s impossible to sweep up after grooming. Makes me crazy to leave dirt and hair in the aisle. Another thing that drives me crazy is people leaving stuff like dirty saddle pads and empty supplement containers on their stall fronts.

Oh, that would make me crazy, PaulaO, and I would buy/bring new supplies if we did not have access to cleaning up resources!
We have a lot of students (young folk, with support for having a horse or two) at my barn. Their attention to cleaning up or sharing is highly variable (it can take an eyebrow or more).

Whenever I see the Instant Pot called “instapot”. I have no idea why this would bother me. It’s sort of a catchy name and I certainly have no skin in that game. I’m not the branding manager for that product, lol. But every time I see it, it’s like nails on a chalkboard.

Expresso, Instapot, thru ... pretty much any corporate jargon. Slow drivers.
As for horse-related annoyances: ill-mannered creatures, borrowing things without returning, messes, feeding treats to other people's horses, leaving ANY gates unlatched, empty water buckets.
My BO runs a tight ship, so over the past 10 years I've only dealt with a mild case of ill-mannered horse (I feed for BO occasionally), and treats. The treats were a real problem: Maia chokes.

Ahh, we were just commiserating today about people leaving the arena with jumps up and poop in scooped. Rude.
Lately at the grocery store it seems like people are more oblivious than usual about traffic flow. Like, if you want to really spend some time deciding on what flavor of Ricearoni to buy, scoot your cart over, don't leave it on the left side of the aisle while you walk over to look, this blocking the entire aisle.

People who say they hate daylight saving time, when it is the return to standard time that they seem to dislike.
Re: Random things that annoy you (a thread for venting small things)
Halters and lead left hanging on the cross ties.
Caribiners not latched back on the gate (Junior knows how to undo gates and latches of all types).
Hoses not put back on their reel.
Brushes left out and not put back in their place.
Halters and bridles left hanging upside down.
The worst part about it.... I don't board.....it's my better half that I'm constantly picking up after and he's constantly complaining about my anal tentativeness LOL. As much as those things drive me crazy, I'm just grateful I have someone who likes to ride and actually asks ME, if I want to go out on a trail ride. He also adores 'his' horse; so, I just bite my lip about the rest.

To continue the dishwasher theme: My DH is a control freak about the dishwasher. He wants to load it (and will re-arrange what I load) and he wants to control when it runs....which is not nearly often enough for me! On the plus side, when the dishwasher breaks, he fixes it.

US flag displayed incorrectly, particularly on saddle pads and clothing. I sent a complaint to the USEF, as out national federation, if they were going to send teams please make sure the saddle pads are actually correct and perhaps advise the riders about the proper dispaly and respect for the flag.
Saw a photo in one national publication / website with a horse wearing a flag like a quarter sheet. Not a flag colored cooler but a flag with grommets and everything

Wearing the flag as a cooler is extremely disrespectful. I don’t believe the flag should be sewn on saddle pads either. There are quite a few flag etiquette rules.

I feel like my flatmates do this with the pots and pans in the cupboard.
I stack them. Limited space in a very small apartment and a desire to actually be able to find everything means the nice, neat, tidy stack is the solution.
My flatmates seem to think flinging them in randomly works just as well.
A pox on them.

Fireworks, Guy Fawkes and the #$%#$^ who let them off in a rural area like ours.
Every year we try to get private sales of the damned things banned and all the bleeding hearts whinge about it not being fair.
What isn't fair is having to listen/be woken up by random explosions in the middle of the night for months on end and the trauma it causes to all of our animals as a result of these explosive devices scaring and hurting them.
It wouldn't be so bad if it was only for one night but due to greedy idiots it isn't one night and more like a living hell for many people.

Re: Random things that annoy you (a thread for venting small things)
Oh my, I have so many, which I contribute to living alone the last few years.
Luckily, the barn I am keeps things tidy and boarders better do the same. We would
never leave tack in the aisle way! Nor would we never not sweep up. It does bother me that we do not need to pick up manure in the indoor ring, I'm so use to picking it up from the old barn that just kicking it about gives me the shakes.
Loud people and people that barely ever stop talking, especially when it's useless chatter.
Boarders who's tack is just thrown on the tack room floor or is moldy.
Dirty horse brushes and blankets whether they are mine or someone else's.
Cobwebs
Dirty windows in my house
People that don't pull out their wallet until the final total is rung up, then they putz around trying to find their money.
People that tell you what to do but God forbid you give them a suggestion and they shut you out .
People that complain about prices, but they are the first ones to return something that they over bought or say it's bad when it's clearly not. Those products go in the trash, so hello you are contributing to higher prices

Re: Random things that annoy you (a thread for venting small things)
Well thanks to the lovely pyromaniac people who can't resist having their #$^@$&^ fireworks for stupid Guy Fawkes, I have a laminitic mare [aka The FatPony] with possibly a tendon injury and she's very sore all over which I think is due to galloping about the paddock like a mad thing and managing to slip over or something. There's definitely something going on in the near fore main tendons as well as very sore feet and a very sore hind end as well.
She's in a tiny corner of the paddock to keep her quiet and has been on bute for a few days now and has padded hoofboots on which really help, plus we've moved the 2yo brat she normally grazes with into the other half of the paddock behind some very hot tape [10,000V!] so that the boots and grazing muzzle stay in one piece and don't get played with anymore.
She was fine the day before all this happened [apart from the brat trashing her only remaining leather halter and grazing muzzle] so it's pretty safe to assume that the fireworks were the cause of it all, and of course I didn't pick this up until late the next day as I was out the night it happened at a meeting.

Thanks PaulaO.
She's doing ok but it is such unnecessary pain for her just because people want to get their jollies from some explosives.

OK, d-queens, I'm just going to say it: I get really annoyed by people who *never* pick up manure in the arena! I mean, my mare *never* poops in the arena, but I clean up yours. Gee, thanks for the opportunity.
p.s. If your horse poops near a mounting block, pick it up when you are done with your ride. P L E A S E.
p.p.s. I'm done now. This is one of the things I miss from my last facility which was a bit of OCD on a beer budget! Now I'm back in champagne land with beer taste. On the other hand, I've gone two days without seeing/riding Miss Mare and I'm quite confident she is alive and well...so that is priceless.

Idiots who don't appreciate the value of things... I've had my motorbike for sale for 6 months. It's worth 8500. I'm prepared to take about 7000-7500. it's the cheapest example of it's kind listed on our Ebay equivalent and it's well priced... The offers coming in are in the 5s and low 6s. Piss off and stop wasting my time. Grr.

To me it's a thing for the reasons M. stated whether in an indoor or outdoor (but it is especially necessary in an indoor or covered).
Re: Random things that annoy you (a thread for venting small things)
I"m also glad I am not at a barn where manure picking out of the arena is a thing. I've been at barns with very nice footing where it was a thing and I definitely did it then. But i currently have one who poops 5-6 times within a ride--not a lot at a time, but it's just an apple here and an apple there the whole ride. Picking up after him would be very time intensive.

Yes, fingernails. Although I did once experience someone clipping his toes nails at his desk.
I’m with the pick up manure in the indoor crowd, although Miss A. has only pooed once under saddle. Our indoor has had up to 13 riders at one time and I can’t imagine if all that manure was left.

Re: Random things that annoy you (a thread for venting small things)
Leaving manure could be an oversight? I've been walking past a pile in my indoor for 3 weeks now, and can't seem to remember to go back in and pick it up. I already moved it over by the wall so it wouldn't get kicked around, but just keep walking past it and never coming back to get it.
It'll get picked up eventually, but in the meantime, nbd as long as it's not getting mixed into the footing.

We definitely pick poo at my barn, but no one would care about the random apple here and there in the outdoor. The indoor is small and who wants to ride through poo piles? It would get gross really fast. The occasional forgetfulness is understandable, but of course there are the habitual offenders.
Tesla is kind enough to poop within 20' of the muck bucket about 90% of the time, and Annabelle rarely poops under saddle.
Keep calm and canter on.

LOL. Okay. Quantity is definitely in our favor at my barn. There are 2 regular riders — me and another boarder — and I only ride one of mine in the arena. Between us, we ride 9-14 times/week. There are 2 other sporadic riders, who ride once or twice a week, max. Our horses simply cannot produce the quantity of poop that would make the outdoor nasty!

heddy, that is simply not that much action! Our arena can see 20 horses in a day---easily. And I ride at night during the week :-0
That said, tonight I just lunged my mare and she panic pooped at another horse in the ring in her vicinity (closer than polite but not terrible). So I did my duty and cleaned up that pile after our work. After all, it is winter now (even in the mid-south) and things do not evaporate like they do in, say, San Diego!

Re: Random things that annoy you (a thread for venting small things)
I very much dislike Memes and people that respond with comments like "This!" or "I agree". Just use the like button. It bothers me because I don't like opening up a topic just to read one-liners. This is not directed to this board, although it happens here too. Facebook and Twitter are the biggest offenders.
The weather forecast annoys me greatly. I understand there should be a margin for error, but when it says 0% rain and I look out and it's raining, I get very pissed. That is because I rely on the weather for blanketing, riding, etc. They can't even get the wind right. I look at the hourly forecast pretty much constantly when I'm in the house. It will say 3-4 mph wind, and then next time I look it's up to 15mph. The way I see it, if you can't forecast within an hour, then why do 10 day forecasts. I imagine some of you are by now, but this really really aggravates me.
