Without a cigarette. The ashtray with 3 butts is still at the smoking station in the garage. Every day I want a cigarette but not as much as I don’t want to smoke. However, I’ve had more episodes of illness this past year than I’ve ever had. I’ve gained 30 pounds, my senses of smell and taste are no better, and I can no longer stand the taste of certain foods. I loved smoking. My advice to the younger generation. Don’t start.
I am proud of me.

Yes, you should be very proud of yourself. Retraining one's self is almost an impossible task.

Re: 366 days
I quit because I ended up in the ER at 1am on a Sunday morning. I couldn’t exhale. I would still be smoking if I hadn’t gotten so sick. It was 2 months before I felt that I could work 40 hours without taking a mid day nap.

Congrats Paula!
That's my advise to the younger generation too. So easy to start, so very hard to quit!
The sad part is the tobacco companies are putting more and more additives in to keep you hooked!
I know I need to stop, but I lack the motivation and willpower to quit.
You have done a great job of staying off them. They are not our friends!

Paula,
Good for you!
Since chemotherapy, some foods just don't taste the same to me either. It's been four years since chemo was over.
However, that is a small price to pay to have gotten rid of cancer!
Keep up the good work!
