Northern lights

Postby snftrs2 » Sat Dec 05, 2015 8:32 pm

I've never seen them and want to! I've been looking at options for this winter in either Canada or Alaska. Has anyone ever done a trip like this? I don't need fancy digs. I'm fine with cold weather and there are tons of things that I'd enjoy even if the lights don't make an appearance ... xc skiing, snowshoeing, kayaking, dog sledding?, animal watching, trying some snow photography, hot tubs, hot toddies, you name it :-)

Anyone?

Living in northwestern Michigan, I've seen them many times. Never taken a trip for the purpose. The farther north you go, the better your chances of seeing them during solar flares. I'm sure there's plenty of information online, or just figure out how far north you can afford to fly, then put together your own trip.
