RIP Peri

RIP Peri
We put my darling pony down today. She was 30 this year. She was not ill, but was having increased arthritis and we were afraid she could go down on the ice and snow when we get further in to winter. We spent hours with her yesterday and today. She had apples, pears, cookies and candy fruit slices today. DH said "we've gotta spoil that girl as much as possible." She grazed on the lawn and got curried and brushed for hours. She was in a very good mood, and cuddling as usual. I'm sure Peri knew how much we adored her. Our neighbor buried her for us. Her final resting place is right next to her daughter Astra. My little two stall barn is empty now. My heart has a giant hole in it.

I am so sorry. I know that when they are older "they have lived a good long life", but I do think you miss them so much because they have been with you for so long.

I am very sorry for your loss. I know you were kind to her, and that is wonderful, but i also know that does not stop the sadness and emptiness. RIP Peri, and hugs to you Periastra

Re: RIP Peri
It doesn't matter how old they are. I'm wishing you happy memories of both her and her daughter. It is comforting to know that they are buried next to each other.

God speed Peri.
I like to think that Steele will greet her at the bridge- he died one year ago today

Re: RIP Peri
So sorry for your loss, but what a gift it must have been to not be in a rush, to have that time to savor the good moments. I can only hope for as much with my guy.

Re: RIP Peri
It is a gift when they leave us with a full tummy after a day of spoiling, but the heartache is still so very huge. I'm sorry for your loss.

Re: RIP Peri
Find comfort knowing that you gave her a good and love filled life.
You made a hard decision and put her comfort and needs first, that's the best final gift you can give her...
Hugs to all that loved Peri.....

They do leave a large hole when they go, I am so sorry. You did well by her and she knew she was loved. Sending you and your heart a gentle hug.

Re: RIP Peri
(((Hugs))) and good on ya for letting her leave on a high note. A day too soon is better than a day too late.
Re: RIP Peri
Hugs to you; so sorry for your loss.
Re: RIP Peri
Sorry I haven't responded sooner to the rest of you. I have had extra hours at work. I can't tell you how much your kindness and support mean. Suzon, I agree that a day too soon is better than waiting until things go bad. DH and I are missing her terribly, but we are sure we did what was right and best for Peri.

Re: RIP Peri
so sorry for your loss. Saying good-bye can be so painful, but what a blessing you are that you chose a time when she could cross that bridge in peace and not in pain. ((((((((((((Periastra)))))))))))))))
