What's the big deal about Adele?

Hello? Why is this song even on the radio? Hello? It's so much less than intelligently written. Hello? Have musical standards deteriorated that much? Hello?

You took the words right out of my mouth. When that song comes on the radio (or actually, any of her songs) I cannot change stations quick enough. Yesterday, my two options were Adele and an ad from Crazy Kevin the car dealer. I happily went with Crazy Kevin.

Phew! I thought it was just me. I love Rollin' in the Deep, but not Hello. I too change the station lickity split.

I personally love her voice. The range she has is pretty amazing.
I however, only like a few of her songs. Rolling in the deep, someone like you and Hello. I really love her voice in them - do I pull apart her lyrics and really think hard about them - nope!

i don't think i've heard her music, but did catch part of an interview with her.
She seems like my kind of people-- irreverent, fun and smart.

I love her. I think her voice is incredibly rich not to mention she has an amazing range. I loved the song Hello at first but now it's so overplayed that I'm sick of it. One day this week they played it on the radio when I was driving to work, when I was driving at lunch, and when I was driving home.

I don't try to read anything into her lyrics, nor anyone else's. There are plenty of pop artists whose lyrics are way way worse than Adele's. If you're into studying lyrics and trying to find deep meaning in them, pop/top 40 is probably not for you. :D

We have a radio in the barn aisle, and whenever the song comes on, the nearest person has to sprint to turn off the volume.

Usually she only gets out that initial Hello before blessed silence descends... oh well a little quiet cursing goes on.

:D I am so glad to find out I'm not the only one who doesn't 'get' Adele.

IT'S ME, KRAAAAAZY KEVIN POWELL

You must live near me.

I've never been a big Adele fan, either. With the exception of the Skyfall theme.

That's what I like about this board - there's usually someone who thinks like you do! So glad I'm not the only one that feels this way about Hello/Adele. Also thought I was missing something. Thought maybe it was my age;-0

I look at it this way: If I were an agent and I went to a gig looking for new talent and heard that song, I sincerely doubt I would sign that performer. It would be "Has potential. Strong voice. Needs better song writer."

Isn't 'hello' a follow on from 'someone like you' ?k
I think it ties in the 2 albums nicely and I shows that she is writing about her personal experiences....

Maybe I'm a bit biased, I just love her name ;)
