Bareback pads

I am considering purchasing a bareback pad for myself to use in the round pen or riding ring to help improve my balance or get it back to where it once was! I have been riding in a cross country saddle for years now and occasionally a dressage saddle. Plus, I have a grand daughter who is staring to ride and thinking that a small pony with a bareback pad might be a way to get her started on her balance riding adventure. She rides now on one of our Halfinger ponies (13.3 hands), lead line but the pony is too tall and round for us to even consider letting this be her first pony. If I am riding in a bareback pad, she will want to ride in a bareback pad.

Suggestions on bareback pads, please!!

They are pricey, but I am really intrigued by the Filzsattel because they have more structure than a regular bb pad to help distribute the weight, and it seems like the felt would be nice to ride on. https://www.filzsattel.de/

They (Filzsattels) are really gorgeous! I did not see where they might be sold in the United States

I think they are only sold direct. I've assumed that they would ship to the US, but never got serious enough to really look into it. Maybe if I sell the pile of tack I have in the basement.

Right now I am looking at the Comfort Plus Suede Bareback Pad as a friend has one and raves about it.

I have the Thinline bareback pad and I love it. I mostly use it for trail riding in the summer, but also do the occasional lesson in it. I find it has improved my balance and certainly highlights crookedness on my part. I've done two hour trail rides through all sorts of terrain, and have had no issues with rubs / soreness on my mare.

Thanks!! I will be checking out a lot of bareback pads! I think I will be doing a lot of walking in the riding ring improving my balance and then onto trotting! Funny..it's been way too many years of riding in a saddle that has me a tad scared of going to a bareback pad.

I've owned a Christ Iberica, a Grandeur barock and a Filzsattel (still have that one) and the Filzsattel is by far the best one for me and my horse! No doubt. No time now but I'll try to get back with details later.

I love it now more than I did initially. The way the girth straps are attached to it with no way to put pressure on the spine made the difference.
