Breeches wearing out between thighs
Can these be saved? The rest of the breeches are in excellent condition. I suppose I could get some kind of stretch material and have the dry cleaner sew a patch on the inside. Has anyone successfully done this? The breeches are On Course, I'm guessing Cotton Naturals.

I patch breeches (and jeans and fly sheets) with thin polar fleece. Fleece stretches if you use a zigzag stitch, is soft against the skin, and is available in many colors.

Thanks Canyon. I will pick up polar fleece. My machine is so old that it doesn't have a zig zag. I assume the fleece would go on the inside, against my skin.

Yes, I usually sew the fleece patch on the inside. I have done a few on the outside, like in the shape of a star, if it seemed like a good place to have a bit of fun.

once mine go, there is no saving them, i patch and they give out pretty quickly again, in a slightly different place, and yes, mine always go between the thighs first, i guess its the ( in my case) thunder thigh pants syndrome.

Would the fleece work for deerskin full seats do you think or would a nubuck type of material work better?
Re: Breeches wearing out between thighs
Dapple Field, is the deerskin wearing out or the cloth material?
Polar fleece seems to last forever, so it would probably be fine to use. I have no experience using nubuck.

The deerskin is wearing out. It may have been also exacerbated by a recent unplanned lawn darting last week as I hadn't noticed the tear before. I just thought that repairing it with leather might be uncomfortable.
