As you might remember, I lost my beloved dog in Feb. It's been very sad but I'm starting to think about my next dog.
I know there are a lot of well connected dog people here so i wanted to throw this out:
I am looking to network/connect with groups that can help me get my next dog sometime this year.
Here is my wishlist for my dream next friend: I invest a lot in time/money/emotions into my commitment so I'm really hoping to get as good of a match as I did for my first dog and my beloved horse.
We have a cat but no kids. Looking for something more towards this fall.
5 month to 3 year old
Female
Beagle, beagle x lab, or other hound mix- floppy ears
Nose-hound and food motivated
25-50 lbs
Darker black/brown or tri color, chestnut or brown.
Brown or dark colored eyes
Short coat.
Submissive/sky vs bold/aggressive.
Absolutely no biting or aggression.
No known medical issues- I just can't start with issues after all I've been though.

If you are open to non-hound floppy-eared dogs who are basically uniformly sweet, shy, submissive, consider a pointer:

p.s. Fenced yard is important

I had to fiddle around to get the pointer site to work, but then I fell in love with Annie in Florida. She’s only 3 (I think). She has a precious face. I think your best girl beagle had a beautiful face, Rye.
I picked our current pit bull off the Austin Pets Alive web site by her face and after 3 yrs we still can’t believe what a super dog she is....

2nd the (well) fenced yard! My neighbor has one who is a bit of an escape artist and has bested every fence system they've tried (currently 5' goat mesh) to go on her daily strolls around the "neighborhood"-- airquotes, because we're pretty rural.
Sweet dogs, but need a good yard. That's probably not news to you, Rye-- when I was kid, I thought there were only 8 beagles in the world and they just ran away from home to home.

Right, my dog was never off leash. EVER.
